The recitation of the names and mantras of the Medicine Guru, also known as the Medicine Buddha, are powerful practices, not only for the healing of physical illnesses and suffering but also for the creation of conducive conditions for the attainment of enlightenment. The recitation or hearing of the names and mantras of the Medicine Buddhas are also taught to prevent rebirth in the lower realms. This short ritual is presented according to the sūtra system and can thus be performed by anyone with faith in the practice.

The aspirations to benefit all sentient beings and engage in practices leading to enlightenment form the foundation of the Mahāyāna Buddhist path. One of the most widely used devotional texts is the Noble Kinglike Aspiration for Good Conduct, also known as the Aspiration for Good Conduct or the Kinglike Aspiration. This book by the late master Khenchen Appey Rinpoche (1927-2010), translated by Maria Vasylieva, offers a word-for-word explanation of the prayer, with detailed annotations and a new translation based on Rinpoche’s clear and insightful commentary.
